CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL OF THE KING’S DAUGHTERS

Bay Mechanical has had a long standing relationship with Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters. We have worked on projects at CHKD’s Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Chesapeake locations.

The Norfolk hospital was a multifaceted project that included 350,000 square feet of new construction and a 160,000-square-foot renovation. The completed project resulted in one of the most advanced critical care children’s hospitals along the East Coast. In its work on the operating rooms, Bay Mechanical was required to install complex medical gas systems and air handling systems of the most rigorous specifications.

Bay Mechanical has had the pleasure to work with Sentara Healthcare on a multitude of projects. Past projects include Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, Sentara Careplex Hospital in Hampton, Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center and Sentara Williamsburg Central Plant, Sentara Albemarle Medical Center and Sentara Leigh Hospital’s Bed Tower and Atrium expansions.

At Sentara Obici Hospital, Bay Mechanical completed the installation of the HVAC and piping, medical gas and plumbing systems for this 330,000-square-foot, new state-of-the-art medical facility. Bay utilized its in-house engineering resources to design the facility using project plans and approved equipment to produce computer-aided design drawings. All piping material, up to 24 inches in diameter, and all equipment, with the exception of the boilers and chillers, were shipped to Bay Mechanical’s prefabrication facility for construction before being brought to the job site.
